IT’S FALL, Y’ALL! Which means gorgeous leaves, cozy scarves & OMG this dish I just came up with last night.
FYI, I live for all things fall. And if loving all things pumpkin spiced makes me basic, then I literally can’t even.
But my other fall obsession is butternut squash. Continue reading
Summertime is in full swing in DC. Patios are packed & cold cocktails are flowing, providing sweet humidity relief.
As you probably know, I’m a huge fan of patio season, but I’m an even bigger fan of the beach. Relaxing with some reggae, sunshine, friends…I mean, just the thought of it makes me happy. But unfortunately, we can’t always be at the beach. Well, except for folks that live at the beach. And if you’re one of those people, can I be you? Thanks.
Lucky for us DC peeps, Clare & Dons Beach Shack in Falls Church is putting out some serious beachy vibes. Continue reading
If you live in the DC area, then you’ve probably heard of Carlyle Grand. I love Carlyle (and all of the Great American Restaurants) so much that back in high school I worked at their bakery, Best Buns.
One of the perks of working there was having Carlyle next door, and even better was getting to order one meal each shift. I always always ALWAYS ordered the salmon, and to this day I haven’t been able to bring myself to order salmon at any other restaurants because I know it won’t live up to my Carlyle-set expectations.
For years I have tried countless salmon recipes only to be disappointed that it does not deliver the mouth watering flavor that Carlyle provides. But today I am proud to say I have finally discovered a recipe for salmon that not only satisfies my taste buds, but is on the lighter side, too. HOW PUMPED ARE YOU GUYS?!?!
When I’m sick, all I want is my bed, Netflix & ramen. That’s right, the cheap kind we lived off of in college (and post-college for some…aka, me). But with zero health benefits, 14 grams of fat, and more than half of your recommended daily salt intake, it’s not the best option when your body desperately needs nutrients.
So when my husband recently caught a case of the sniffles (he loves ramen on sick days, too), I decided it was time to make a healthy version of our go-to sick day comfort food. Continue reading
Eating 1,600 calories a day is a great way to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle without completely depriving yourself. I’ve shared lots of recipes & ideas for where to grab low calorie grub while dining out, as well as a weekly meal plan, so now I thought I would break down my typical 1,600 calorie day! I hope this gives you some scrumptiously healthy ideas 🙂
A weekend without brunch isn’t a weekend. Seriously…think about it. What other day of the week is it appropriate to drink before noon? And if champagne for breakfast is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
Last Saturday, I met up with my lovely, beautiful, hilarious friend Lauren. Continue reading
A couple of years ago, I was searching for light & healthy recipes on Twitter & saw #MeatlessMonday floating around. Although it was new to me, I found that Meatless Monday has actually been around since World War I. Families were asked to participate in “Meatless Monday” to aid the war (cue “The More You Know”).
It is now a global movement urging us to cut down our consumption of meat once a week. Not only is it good for you, but it’s also good for the planet. You can learn more here!
I have a few Meatless Monday ideas here on the blog, and while I do find it easy to go meatless during breakfast and lunch, dinner can be difficult so I’m always looking for new ideas. Continue reading
